Valara, The god of the world, creating peaceful creatures to inhabit the world

Tundra

The players must first make their way through the cold and harsh tundra, battling the elements and platforming challenges. Making their way through the wind and snow, the players unlock new abilities.

I designed these levels to teach the players basic mechanics while giving them room to explore more complicated platforming techniques. I also created scripted events using custom tools to create tutorials and narrative moments.

The Altar areas, where players gain their new powers, are specifically designed to be oneway, without the new ability. So that the players must master the ability to exit the Altar area.

Forest

Lynxadillo

The Forest level kicks up the difficulty of the game after the first level. The forest is full of wild and riveting creatures, infected by the blight. The new creatures provide unique challenges for the players by changing their approach to the world.

THE TOPPLER

The Toppler is another creation of Valara that was infected by the blight.  It must be purified so that the players can resurrect Valara.  I designed and prototyped the AI for the Toppler to be a co-operative challenge. Both players must utilize all the abilities they have learned in the Tundra. The players must lure the charging Toppler to the edge of the platform and knock it down when it loses its balance on the edge. However, As a sentient being the Toppler will not be susceptible to the same attack twice. Forcing the players to make every attack count.
